What the Heart Is Like: An Introduction to Biodynamic Cardiovascular Therapy

A CPD Workshop with Mary Bolingbroke & Tim Kirkpatrick

Saturday & Sunday, 16th & 17th May

Following the success of this workshop in Bristol last year, the CSTA welcomes back Mary Bolingbroke and Tim Kirkpatrick of Heartfelt Learning, this time in Edinburgh.

They say that ‘Home is where the heart is’ but the heart is also a home, the home of our embryological origins, our connection to stillness and the liquid light we bring with us and that shines when we fall in love. The heart connects us to our inner world through our blood and to the outer world through the vagus and autonomic nervous system. Founded on osteopathic and CST principles, contemporary scientific studies and timeless Eastern and Western spiritual philosophies, this is an investigation of the holistic heart in terms of mind, body and spirit and across dimensions of time from conception to adulthood and death.

What You Will Learn

Through the study of the anatomy and physiology of the endothelium, metabolic syndrome, the vagus and social nervous system, we will explore how the heart works and some of the ways in which its vitality can be compromised. There will practical table sessions and guided experiential exercises, along with treatment principles and protocols that can be easily integrated into everyday practice.

DAY 1

    • The embryological development of the heart
    • Light, potency and ignition
    • The wholeness of the CVS
    • The endothelium : structure & function (including metabolic syndrome and its treatment)

DAY 2

    • The innervation of the heart : autonomic nervous system & vagus
    • The social nervous system
    • The psycho-neuroendocrine immune systems and their role in heart dysregulation
    • Hard wired, soft wired, wet wired (CNS and the CVS)
    • The boundless heart – the collective, ancestral and sacred aspects of the heart

Mary has been practising cranial osteopathy for over 30 years, treating adults, children, the dying, the yet to be born and the newborn. Tim’s CST practice has been deeply influenced by Dr Michael Shea’s biodynamic cardiovascular therapy teaching and his emphasis of the centrality of the heart to our incarnation.
